Q1: How do you define your style?? [in less than 5 words]
JOI CARDWELL: Soulful, jazz inspired positive music.
Q2: What keeps you going in life??
JOI CARDWELL: Faith, love and sunshine keep me going.
Q3: Who/What inspires you??
JOI CARDWELL: My beloved partner, my family and friends keep me motivated and on the right path.
Q4: What do you hope to achieve through your music??
JOI CARDWELL: I hope to inspire, uplift and create joy with my music.
Q5: Your favorite quote??
JOI CARDWELL: “The harder I work, the luckier I get” – Frank Sinatra.
Q6: What song do you sing in the shower??
JOI CARDWELL: Today it was “Whatever it takes – Michael Buble”.
Q7: Your highlight moment??
JOI CARDWELL: Watching a friend deliver her twins, I filmed the birth!!

JOI CARDWELL: The best feeling ever was knowing I had found my true soulmate.
Q9: Are there particular places, in the world, that are more receptive than others to what you’re doing??
JOI CARDWELL: The world is and has been supoorptive of my music , but i find the most love from the UK, Japan, Italy and recently South Africa.
Q10: Has your music changed since you’ve started?? If yes, how has it changed?? If no, how do you maintain your style??
JOI CARDWELL: My music has become more sophisticated in its composition but hopefully what has never changed is the message: Love is the answer and there is always a better time ahead.
Q11: What’s the next step for you as an artist/dj??
JOI CARDWELL: My next step is to expand my audience and create an album honoring great Black American recording artists of the 20th Century.
Q12: Any words for aspiring artists or dj’s…
JOI CARDWELL: Don’t get caught up in what others are doing. Be aware and contemporary but stay true to yourself. And make sure you get paid if someone is going to off your talent!!
